Apply for an Innovator Founder Visa
This visa is for entrepreneurs who want to set up and run a business in the UK. They must produce a business plan for the proposed business, which must be approved and endorsed by an eligible private endorsing body. These endorsing bodies have themselves been approved by the Home Office.
The required features for the new business are:
- it must be innovative
- it must be viable
- it must be scalable, ie it has the potential for growth
The rules for financial investment in the proposed business are very flexible. There is no specific mathematical requirement, but the proposed figure for investment must be adequate and realistic.
Visa applications may be made from outside the UK and, in some circumstances, from within the UK by migrants who already hold leave in a different category.
The fee for Innovator Founder visa from outside the UK is £1,375 and from inside the UK is £1,693, plus fees for endorsement and continuation of endorsement.
The visa is granted for three years and it may be possible to extend it if the relevant requirements are met and the business is doing at least reasonably well.
It is also potentially possible to apply for settlement after three years, but the requirements for this are more complicated and can be met in different ways: for example by the level of investment in the business, by the level of revenue, by an increase in the number of customers or by a sufficient level of job creation.
Dependants (partners and minor children) can also be included in the visa application along with the main applicant and they may also qualify for settlement when the time comes.
This visa route has an English language requirement (for example B2 level test) and also a Life in the UK test requirement for settlement.
