Apply for a Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa

The Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa was, until 2019, a major route for entrepreneurs wanting to set up a business and run a business in the UK. But now the route has been closed to new entrants. However, migrants already in the system are able to apply for extension visas or for settlement if they meet the relevant requirements.

For extension visa applications the applicant must show that they have invested the required amount of funds into their business and that they have created at least two full-time jobs in the business for at least 12 months.

For settlement applications the entrepreneur applicant must show that they have maintained at least two full-time jobs in the business during their last grant of leave.

Entrepreneur dependants can apply for visas along with the main applicant.

Requirements for Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa

Specific and detailed documents must be submitted with the application to show that the relevant requirements are met, particularly the investment requirements and job creation requirements. The documentary criteria are notoriously complex.

The entrepreneur applicant must also provide a business plan with the application which shows a convincing strategy for the future of the business.

The entrepreneur applicant must also show that there will be sufficient finance for them and any dependants for general living expenses.

Applications must be made to the Home Office in the UK.
